Your Toyota is equipped with a range of advanced safety features designed to protect you and your passengers when you’re driving. Let’s take a closer look at some of the Toyota safety features you may have in your model.

Pre-Collision Detection with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD)

This system uses cameras and radar to identify vehicles, pedestrians, bicyclists, or animals directly in front of your Toyota. It determines the distance between your Toyota and anything ahead of you and will instantly provide visual and audio warnings if you’re closing too rapidly. If you’re unable to react in time, the system will engage automatic emergency braking to stop your vehicle to prevent or reduce the consequences of an accident.

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)

This is an advanced form of cruise control. When you’re on the highway, you can set the speed you want and the distance you want to keep between you and any vehicle ahead of you. The system uses radar to maintain the pre-set following distance and will apply the brakes, if necessary, to prevent you from closing on another vehicle.

Lane Tracing Assist (LTA)

This system uses a camera to detect the lane lines and actively works to keep your vehicle in the center of your lane. It works with the DRCC system above and provides audio and visual warnings if you drift into another lane without actively steering. The LTA will then actively guide your Toyota back toward the lane center.

Lane Departure Warning with Steering Assist (LDW w/SA)

This feature is active when you’re driving faster than 32 mph. It identifies white or yellow lines on the road and sounds a warning if you cross into another lane without an active direction indicator. Visual warnings are displayed on your screen, and a warning sounds to alert you. If you can’t respond fast enough, the system will gently steer you back into your lane.

Automatic High Beams (AHB)

The AHB system uses sensors to detect headlight beams heading toward your vehicle. It automatically switches your high beams to low beams until the sensors detect the oncoming lights have passed, then resets your headlights to high beams again. It’s automatically active at night when your speed rises over 21 mph.

Road Sign Assist

It can be easy to miss a road sign when you’re driving, but that won’t happen again with this system. Its camera can identify stop signs, speed limits, and other important warnings and will display them on your screen so you can take corrective action if necessary.
