Regular maintenance protects your investment in your Toyota by reducing repair costs and extending vehicle life. As your Toyota dealership, we’d like you to know a few signs you need to visit us for Toyota maintenance.
AC Smells Bad
When you turn on the AC, you expect crisp, cold air. If this air smells musty and earthy, your AC has a bacteria or mold infestation. These organisms float in the air drawn into the AC for cooling. They disperse through the system, congregating in the ducts and the AC drainpipe. When the AC is dormant over the winter, these dark, damp places provide the perfect breeding ground for them to thrive.
While this sounds bad, as both organisms can cause allergic reactions or illness, we can easily fix this issue. We add an antibacterial and anti-mold cleaning solution to the AC and run. Once the solution has worked, the AC will be as clean and fresh as a daisy.
Banging Noises
If you’re driving and hear a banging noise that disappears when you speed up, you could have an exhaust problem. The exhaust’s job is to collect the gases produced by combustion, transport them to the catalytic converter for conversion to less harmful gases, and then expel them from your vehicle via the tailpipe.
The exhaust system consists of several connected sections and is attached to the underside of your vehicle by brackets called hangers. These hangers allow slight movement of the exhaust sections while keeping them firmly connected. Hangers can get damaged or break over time, and part of the exhaust will bang against the underside of your Toyota and suffer damage in the process. We’ll replace the damaged hanger and the noise will stop.
Hard Brake Pedal
When you push down on the brake pedal, you expect to feel resistance which increases as you exert more pressure. This resistance is caused by pressurized brake fluid that forces the brakes to engage. If you push on the pedal and it feels like you’re doing leg presses at the gym, the brake pedal booster is damaged.
The booster is located between the brake pedal and the rest of the brake system. It magnifies the force you exert on the pedal by 10x, providing enough pressure to move the pedal without heavy exertion. The booster uses a vacuum system to generate this pressure, and a leak or other damage can compromise the booster. We’ll repair or replace the booster to fix this problem. These are just some of the types of repairs we provide. Book your next maintenance today by contacting our service department at Ken Ganley Toyota PA in Pleasant Hills, PA.
