Understanding Your Toyota’s Warranty and Coverage

A new Toyota is covered by a range of warranties that protect you against any unforeseen issue with the vehicle due to workmanship or materials. In the event of a problem covered by the warranty, the situation will be rectified by an authorized dealer at no charge to you. As your Toyota dealer, we’d like to explain more about the coverage you receive under the 2024 Toyota Warranty.

New Vehicle Warranty

This warranty contains several warranties that cover individual sections of your vehicle. Let’s dive in and look at these warranties in more detail.

Basic Warranty

The warranty extends coverage to nearly all components within your Toyota vehicle. The only systems and components not covered are either included in one of the other warranties below or specifically excluded. Coverage for items under this warranty lasts for the first three years or 36,000 miles. AC recharge, wheel balancing, and wheel alignment are covered for the first year or 12,000 miles.

This warranty doesn’t cover costs for normal wear and tear, maintenance, or any situation where the vehicle odometer can’t be accurately determined. In addition, any damage caused by unauthorized repairs, misuse, the use of non-Toyota-approved parts, or water contamination is not covered by the warranty. Powertrain Warranty

The engine, the transmission and transaxle, and FWD or RWD systems are protected by this warranty. Coverage lasts for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. The same warranty exclusions as the warranty above are applicable.

Restraint System Warranty

This warranty protects all the components in the seat belt and airbag systems. It’s applicable for five years or 60,000 miles. Any issue with these components will be repaired by a dealer for free.

Corrosion Perforation Warranty

Corrosion can cause considerable damage to any metal, and once it starts, it’s impossible to eliminate. Your Toyota undergoes special treatment at the factory to protect all the body and sheet metal against rust or corrosion. This treatment is lifelong and doesn’t require any further application. If corrosion appears on your Toyota, that is a hole through any metal section from one side to the other, the affected metal section will be replaced. Protection against corrosion perforation is applicable for five years and unlimited mileage.

California Emission Control Warranty

This warranty is separate from the other warranties and focuses on your Toyota’s emissions control system. In Pennsylvania, the California emissions apply. Your vehicle complies with Federal and California emissions requirements. Warranty coverage for most emission system components applies for three years or 50,000 miles.

Certain components, for example, the catalytic converter, transmission control system, and fuel control system enjoy extended coverage that lasts for seven years or 70,000 miles.
